Jumbo & Display Plush

A pattern that works at twenty centimetres does not work at a metre. Scaled up, the same number of panels leaves long straight seams across curved surfaces, and the toy reads as faceted rather than soft.

So we re-pattern for the size, with more panels and shorter seams, which is why a jumbo is not simply a small one costing more. Above a certain size we will also put an internal frame or a stiffened base inside, because fibre fill alone will not hold a large shape upright for years in a shop window.

Freight is worth knowing about early. A large plush is light and enormous, so it is charged on volume rather than weight, and a display piece can cost more to ship than to make. We put the packed dimensions on the quote so nobody finds that out afterwards.

Can you just scale up our small plush?

We can, and it will look faceted. The same panel count over a much larger curve leaves long straight seams that the eye reads as flat planes. A jumbo needs a re-drawn pattern with more panels, which is most of why it costs what it does.

Why is shipping so expensive on large plush?

Because it is charged on volume, not weight, and a big soft toy is almost all volume. On a display piece the freight can exceed the manufacturing cost. We put the packed dimensions on the quote so you can plan around it.
